Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the haematological and carcass of differently processed mango seed kernel meal (MSKM) on broiler chickens for eight weeks. The processing includes: soaking for 24 and 72hours, boiling and soaking and boiling. Two hundred and twenty-five (225) day old broiler chicks were randomly allotted to five dietary treatments with three replicates of 15 birdseach in completely  randomized design. The experimental diets consisted of raw, soaked for 24hours, soaked for 72hours, boiled and soaked and boiled mango seed kernel meal included at 10% in both broiler starter and finisher diets designated as T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5. The proximate composition, carcass and haematology of broiler chickens were obtained. T3 has the highest crude protein (8.37%)compared to T1 (6.03%)  and the crude fibre ranges from 1.99-2.82% for T4 and T2 respectively. The carcass analysis shows that there was significant difference in dressing %, liver and abdominal fat across the treatments. Haematological evaluation shows that all the parameters were significant. From the experiment conducted, it is therefore concluded that mango seed kernel based diets does not affect the carcass characteristics of broiler chickens
